It's a special Artists Curated week at Design By Humans. This week will be top selected artworks from some of the best t shirt designers throughout the world. The designs were selected for there accuracy with trends, great design concepts and craftsmanship.

The first is by Jeff Sheldon a young master of typographic and 2 d geometric design. His Remix T Shirt is a 2 Deminional rendition of all the music channels though the generations. From the radio to the i pod and all the knobs and dials in between. We solute the great design concept and cool musical redition in this lightning bolt.

Matthew Taylor a master dramatic design. His color harmonies, expression and compositions all make for exciting visual images. The Great Leap features a rock climber flying off the cliff. The positive and negative color harmonies play with the perspective, as it could seem the climber is jumping off the cliff or climbing to the top. Cthulhu Rises from the sea with wave crashing and boats flooding. The Cracken, the Poseidon, the Cthulu reaches out to grab you with his gauging hands.  Rafael’s characters are one of a kind; from the three eyed cat, to the snarling gerbil monster, the amazing detail, color and expression is memorizing. The last day of artist week features cartoon style illustrator Matthew Skiff. He has quite the portfolio of fantasy style characters in a perfected linear style. The rubber stamp style in of the Voyager tee is a great rendition of how he can create personality, drama and shading using limited color. The space ranger blasts his ray gun while it smokes after a shot.

The top 3 winners are announced from the intense 60 minute timed tournament. Each of the winners are printed in limited edition numbers. The awards go out to the first place winner $1500 + Intuos5, the 2nd place winner a $1250 and Bamboo Create, 3rd place $1000 and a Bamboo Splash.

The first place winner goes to Hero, a highly decorated warrior that stares you in the face with honor. The soldier comes out of the shadows to reveal an ornate samurai style soldier with a decorated dragon helmet. This graphic t shirt is a dark, mysterious, and powerful design of a strong hero.

The second place winner is a field of defeat, with skulls and princess heads. The heavy black lines and shapes are highlighted by rich colors. The colorful detailed and stylistic composition make the Fall of a Villain.

Marketing Your T Shirt Designs

Step 1: Build a Social Following, People don’t know you design until you tell them.

One of the first steps to generate the hype for your designs is through using the social media channels. Using Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and even instagram is one of the fastest ways to send out news. You can enhance the post by describing where your design inspiration came from, where you plan on going with design and what you want to accomplish with your completed design. People will be more engaged with your design if they have a story or explaination of the design.

Step 2: Show some Design Sketches or Process Work.

Showing a work in progress of your design would be a great way to market your next graphic tee design. This helps you and your audiences recognize your style. Weather you specialize in funny, exotic, detailed or simple designs. You can build followers by showing off your style. There are even videos in process sketches.

Look to our Forum Section in our Community for a chance to talk to other artist about your design. Objective feedback can help take you designs to the next level. Likewise you can give good feedback to gain respect as a designer. It’s not uncommon that designers have a website or blog of their work for people to follow them. Posting your latest designs and having people be able to track your progression as a designer will have them eager of what is next to come. Make sure to put necessary links and social buttons that will help spread your work and have others come visit your site. Most Designers have a wordpress or tumblr to promote their artwork.

The work that you took so much time and effort to design deserves the right exposure. Even if your work isn’t chosen as a winning design when people see your name they will remember. Just getting your work out there is great and as you practice and grow as a designer it will build a story of how you got to that point. We will be looking at the fundamentals of photography; composition, color, contrast, line, focus and texture. Here are some photography techniques that translate into great tshirt designs.

Composition – Does the picture have an interesting subject matter or environment? Photographers often use the rule of thirds to keep the image from looking snapshot and too symetrical. The main subject should be framed on a third of the image. Great photography compositions also have leading lines from the foreground to the background.

Color – How does color enchance the photograph and t shirt design? There are natural color harmonies, vibrant and monochromatic colors to reference. You should know the type of colors you are using for a t shirt blank and in the design.

Texture – Many successful photographs have interesting textures like metal, wood, decay, leaves, reflections, etc.

Contrast – The light and shadows in a photograph can create a great composition. Pay attention to the lighting of the subject matter and cascading shadow.

Creativity – The most interesting t shirt designs consist of many or all great design techniques. The creativity is the spark in which you make the photograph the iconic t shirt design that stands out against the competition.

You can use these basic photography ideas to compose an interesting t shirt design with a variety of visual techniques. Photography can be a powerful tool in design and the challenge in this contest is to make an exciting photograph that highlights the design.
